One of Bon Appetit's Restauranteurs of the Year, Joachim Splichal of the Patina Group in Los Angeles created the regular menus, and Jeanne Jones developed the Sail Light and Vegetarian options. We loved the creativity and variety of the menus. Mr. Splichal and his family of 10 were on our sailing, and I'm sure it was fun for them to see the Wind Surf passengers enjoying his creations so much.
We usually dined in the Restaurant with two other couples and every dinner had something that appealed to each of us. The lamb and beef were especially good. The Wind Surf had many tables for two in the Restaurant, which is important to many honeymooners or other romantics who might like to dine alone for one or more evenings.
Small ships like the Wind Surf with open seating can be more creative and really excel in their cuisine since they are preparing for less passengers and do not have to "turn the tables" in a short time.
The Wind Surf also had 24-hour room service, with a wide ranges of offerings from course-by-course private dinners in your cabin to just popcorn or snacks for watching a DVD movie.
