The Viking Spirit had several musicians or artisans who came onboard to educate or entertain the passengers. This glass blower joined the ship in Wertheim and sailed on the ship for a couple of hours. He marveled us with his glass blowing skills, and entertained us with stories of his family. Read more about the Ittig family of glass artisans.

Cruise manager Jochen Kargl also lectured on relevant topics such as the Viennese Art of Drinking Coffee or the Main-Danube Canal.

Other musical entertainers on the Viking Spirit included a Bavarian duo and a tribute to the local Rhine wine. I think everyone's favorite evening entertainment was the crew show, which included singing and folk dancing and even a Conga Line of passengers and crew all around the ship.

On the nights we did not have entertainment, Jochen led games such as bingo, Liar's Club, and the not-so-Newlywed Game. Some evenings, couples danced to Peter's music.

The activities and entertainment on the Viking Spirit are not as professional or exciting as a Las Vegas-style revue, but they seem to work well on this small river vessel. None of the passengers I spoke with seemed to have missed having more exciting evening shows.
