The observation lounge was the most popular place on the Viking Spirit. In the daytime when we were cruising, many passengers enjoyed a book or each other's company while watching the dramatic autumn river scenery through the wide expanse of windows. Some people played bridge, other card games, or Scrabble.

Tea was served mid-afternoon in the observation lounge, and Jochen Kargl(the cruise manager) had a daily briefing each evening during the cocktail hour before dinner. It was always fun to get a preview of the next day before we got back to our cabins in the evening. Peter, the ship's musician, entertained in the observation lounge on his keyboard before and after dinner.
