Travelpro WalkAbout Lite Rollaboard

Travelpro WalkAbout Lite Rollaboard

The Bottom Line

Travelpro invented the first roll-aboard suitcases, and the company continues to be a leader in the luggage industry. I have had my set of Travelpro WalkAbout Lite -- the 26" and 22" expandable rollaboards and the rolling tote -- for about three months now, and I love all three pieces. The Travelpro WalkAbout Lite luggage has already been to South America and around the U.S. The WalkAbout Lite pieces roll easily, pack well, and look good. What more could a frequent traveler ask for?

Guide Review - Travelpro WalkAbout Lite Rollaboard Luggage

My expectations were high for the WalkAbout Lite, and I was not disappointed. Its quality is excellent. The expandable rollaboards are perfect for cruise travelers who are trying to avoid having overweight bags, especially given the seemingly ever-shrinking weight limits on airplanes.

The 26-inch expandable rollaboard weighs only 12 pounds, 6 ounces, but is very sturdy. It comes with a removable plastic toiletry holder (with wet pockets) and a garment holder. I especially like the roomy zippered mesh pocket in the lid and the large pocket on the outside.

I've been using the 22-inch, 10-pound rollaboard as a carryon bag for short trips, and it has fit well in the overhead compartments. The zippered ticket holder on the outside of the carryon is useful for those of us who worry about losing our plane ticket while in the TSA line.

I was a little leery at first about the rolling tote, since it was much smaller than the one I had been using to carry my computer. However, my notebook computer and all those papers I seem to need to carry fit in the bag easily, and it even goes under an airplane seat. Better yet, it is no heavier than a briefcase, but much roomier (and it rolls)!
