Aqaba, Jordan (also spelled Al'Aqabah) sits on the edge of the Red Sea's Gulf of Aqaba. This cruise ship port of call provides easy access for cruise ship passengers to visit the ancient city of Petra and the marvelous desert at Wadi Rum. Overnight shore excursions go as far inland as the Dead Sea and Jordan's capital city of Amman.
Aqaba shares the Gulf of Jordan with the Israeli beach resort of Eliat, and Saudi Arabia is just a few miles away over the mountains.
I visited Aqaba for two days from the luxury cruise ship the Silversea Silver Whisper, and we spent one day in Petra and the second in Wadi Rum. Let's take a look at the port of Aqaba.
