While on Bora Bora, we did a shore excursion around the small island and up into the mountains via a four-wheel drive vehicle (4x4). Bora Bora, like most of the other Society Islands in French Polynesia, has one main road circling the island. In order to get a better picture of how spectacular the lagoon looks, you need to go up into the mountains or take a helicopter ride.

Since we had enjoyed the 4x4 trip so much on Tahiti, we decided to sign up for the one in Bora Bora. It was better than any Disney World ride! We circled the island on the paved road, but went up into the mountains and back country three times via a MUDDY path to get views of the lagoon and sites below. All of the rain Bora Bora had the few days before we arrived just made for more fun. I only wish I could have gotten some pictures of some of the HUGE mud holes we sloshed through or what seemed like 75 degree inclines we roared up and over! We were all hanging on to the sides of the truck with both hands and laughing hysterically, so you'll just have to take my word for it!

These photos were taken on our 4 x 4 wheel drive around Bora Bora. Join me on a ride over and around the beautiful island of Bora Bora.
