Magellanic Penguins on Carcass Island of the Falkland Islands

Falkland Islands Magellanic Penguins

The Magellanic Penguin colony on Carcass Island in the Falklands

Carcass Island was covered with numerous Magellanic penguins and their nests. We hiked across the island from Leopard Beach to the settlement and saw many nesting penguins such as these along the way. I thought the multi-colored grasses of Carcass Island were interesting and gave the rolling fields a sense of color. ONe thing we expected to see on Carcass Island, but did not, were sheep. They were grazing on the other side of the island.
