Our Buenos Aires guide from Defrantur Argentina tours, Julia Buenaventura, gave us lots of interesting information about both Buenos Aires and the history of the gauchos and the Argentine ranches as we drove out to the Estancia Santa Susana, and the 70 km went by quickly. We both thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with her. The scenery was flat and covered with grass, but the drive up to the old ranch house was flanked by tall trees and was quite picturesque. The Estancia Santa Susana is a tourist ranch, and many buses filled the parking lot when we arrived. Some visitors were riding either on horseback on the sturdy gaucho ponies or in wagons touring the ranch. Others were just enjoying the wonderful sunny day or watching the huge barbecue pit filled with all sorts of meats.
