Ecuador is a small country on the Pacific Coast of South America between Peru and Colombia. Given its name, it should not be surprising to know that the equator runs near the capital city of Quito. The most outstanding ports of call in Ecuador are the Galapagos Islands, which are located 622 miles from the mainland. Visitors to the Galapagos usually overnight in Guayaquil before flying to the Galapagos to join one of many small cruise ships that sail around the islands.
