While the Seven Seas Mariner was anchored in the Amazon River at Alter do Chao, Brazil, we took an excursion up one of the Amazon's tributaries to see some of the wildlife and do a little piranha fishing. The riverboat was typical of those we saw as ferries all along the Amazon River--it had open sides and was covered to protect its passengers from the rain and fierce sun. The only difference was that we sat on plastic chairs rather than cruised in hammocks like the locals do!
