The About Cruises Guide did the first leg of this Grand Voyage, sailing from Fort Lauderdale to Manaus, Brazil in January 2006. Read all about our Amazon Adventure.

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL., February 22, 2005 – From the depths of the Amazon to the towering Iguazu Falls, guests of the Seven Seas Mariner’s® 62-night “Grand Circle South America” voyage January 10, 2006, will encounter sights simply not available on an ordinary cruise. Thirty-three ports, 15 countries, seven onboard overnights and countless glaciers and waterways will be featured on the roundtrip Ft. Lauderdale sailing, along with incredible bird’s-eye views from the privacy of each guest’s own balcony.

The 700-guest all-suite, all-balcony cruise ship will feature famed ocean explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau, who is scheduled to sail the Amazon, the Falklands and the Chilean Fjords. Cousteau, along with associates from his Ocean Futures Society, will share his broad knowledge of this colorful, diverse continent through onboard enrichment programs and a range of captivating shore excursions.

Four combinable 12- to 20-night segments will be available during the Seven Seas Mariner’s circumnavigation of South America including a 1,000-mile adventure up the Amazon to Manaus. Devil’s Island, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, the Falkland Islands, Cape Horn, and Lima are among the alluring destinations featured on this luxurious adventure. And while the newest port of call for 2006 will be Pirate’s Cove in the Pearl Islands off Panama's Pacific coast – a recent location for the popular television series "Survivor - Pearl Islands" – guests of this six-star cruise needn’t worry about being stranded with a lack of amenities.

Guests booked on the entire 62-night cruise will receive complimentary first class roundtrip airfare from 86 North American gateways and up to $1,000 per suite in shipboard credits, as well as grand values including three exclusive complimentary shore side events. (Four additional events are open to all cruise guests.) Per person prices from $24,534 include Early Booking Savings. From trekking the Inca Trail, to dancing in an Argentine tango club, to hiking over a glacier and sipping wine in a Chilean vineyard, South America brings new meaning to the phrase “experiential travel.” Explorations and ecological marvels await guests, along with the exceptional comforts, fine dining and impeccable service of a vessel that boasts one of the highest space-per-guest ratios in the industry, four sumptuous restaurants and a crew to guest ratio of 1:1.6.

The wonders of South America will unfold on four cruise segments:

  • 12-night voyage from Ft. Lauderdale to Manaus (with onboard overnight) on Jan. 10; per person prices from $4,946;

  • 17-night voyage from Manaus to Buenos Aires (with shipboard overnight) on Jan. 22; per person prices from $7,796;

The Seven Seas Mariner’s ocean-view balcony suites range in size from 301 to 2,002 square feet (including balcony). She is the first ship to boast a permanent Le Cordon Bleu® restaurant (“Signatures”), staffed by chefs trained at the famed Parisian culinary institute. A Carita® of Paris spa provides a popular alternative to traditional oceangoing spas, including Carita’s exclusive Rénovateur Lift Fermete treatment, which repairs mature skin’s signs of aging. In addition, an Internet Café (Club.com) and 21st century Mermaid® pod propulsion system for virtually vibration-free cruising are also featured on the world’s first all-suite, all-balconied vessel.
