Caribbean Cruise on the Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas

Looked forward to this cruise for 10 months - and was pretty disappointed. Definitely learned that the larger the ship, the worse the service. Multiple mistakes from billing to luggage. This was our third cruise with Royal and our fourth cruise total - definitely will be our last cruise on one of the larger ships - as probably our last with Royal Caribbean.

There are inadequate services for number of guests - almost impossible to get a lounge chair in the solarium and children were in the area, despite it being posted as an adult area only. Chair holding with towels (when you could actually get one) despite signs posted that holding chairs not allowed and chairs on unoccupied chairs for hours on end. The ship staff gave you the impression they were only interested in you if they were selling you something.

At one point, we stood in line at the excursion desk for 20 minutes to ask for a map for St. Thomas for the following day - so that we could plan our day. Was told that that didn't have a map and could instead book us an excursion. After we left the desk, we saw another person with a map and they told me that the desk just behind where we had been had a stack of them -- but then they were just lying there for free and there was no more money to be made!

Due to the size of the ship, there was a significant line any time you needed a service. Definitely had the feel of a floating hotel with frenzied staff instead of a relaxing, restoring vacation. Dealt with post-cruise staff regarding billing inaccuracies and found the experience to be nothing less than frustrating - I guess since we were no longer spending money - we were definitely not very important as well. I LOVE to cruise, but for my money, next time we will go back to Holland America.
