My husband and I took a cruise on the Sovereign from Feb 12-16/07. Although the ship is older, it was very beautiful and clean. All staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the wait staff were exceptional. They go out of their way to make you feel special.
Boarding was very well organized (we arrived the night before) and got on the ship early so we could check it all out. Handling of luggage was great.
We really enjoyed everything on this ship. The food was wonderful and the drinks are a reasonable price, high quality liquor and when you ask for something straight up, you got a very large shot. Entertainment was always good, lots going on all the time.
Read the daily "Cruise Compass" that they slip under your door every morning. This will keep you informed on all the daily events, very useful. The Captain's dinner was very elegant. If you plan on attending, bring something fancy. I felt a little under-dressed, but what a great time.
Ship photographers take pictures of the passengers everyday and display them for sale in the centrum during dinner hours, generally $10 - $20. They are a nice souvenir.
We had a "chocolate" midnight buffet one night, wow !!! All kinds of cookies, cakes, squares and fruit dipped in chocolate and a poolside midnight buffet one night. Coco Cay is a lovely little private island. We were ferried over (5 minutes) from the ship and could go back and forth during the day.
Nassau is very beautiful and Paradise Island is amazing. If you go to Atlantis, take a cab over after 5Pm and you can see the aquariums for free.
I would highly suggest the Sovereign, and although my husband and I like to visit different places each winter, I would definitely consider another cruise on this ship.
