Nassau Cruise on the Regal Empress

Last September we went on our Honeymoon to Las Vegas, and we received a 3-day cruise to the Bahamas free. As we all know nothing is free. We had expected that we would pay port charges and airfare and that was not a problem (Which we did when cruise was booked in February).

When we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale we spent the night at the Ramada Airport, which wasn't too bad and then took a shuttle the next day to the port. As we are checking in, there is a sign posted on the counter that each passenger will be charged an additional $30 per person for fuel charge and $20 per person for gratuity. We were even willing to accept that, but once we got to what was supposed to be our double bed stateroom (upgraded for an additional $100 at booking) we had a small room with two cot-size beds. (I would have hated to see our original room!).

We immediately went to see if we could get our room changed and were told there were no other rooms, but we could upgrade again for an additional $299. Since we felt we had no other option we did this. Our room is what we should have received to begin with.

I would never recommend this ship to those of you who have never taken a cruise, as we have been on other ships with Carnival and had a wonderful experience!
