Princess Cruise Lines - Grand Princess Cruise Review

Western Caribbean on the Grand Princess Cruise Ship - Page 2

From Fritz, for About.com

Overall Impression of the Grand Princess
Some folks on the ship describe Princess as an "older crowd" (Older is relative, right?) I would estimate that most of the cruise passengers were over 50, we saw infants, toddlers, young children, teens, 20's. 30's, 40's and up. One couple in one of the ship games has been married for 58 years, so that puts them near 75 or 80.

We saw people of all levels of mobility. Some with crutches and walkers, some wheel chairs, some powered scooters. Each of the excursions has a pretty good descriptions of the physical challenges involved. The most physically active and the most restricted mobility passenger will each find something to their liking. The casino always seemed to have open slots, tables, and games. The 2 cent slot payed off $17.00 on my 30 cent bet (I know, I'm the last of the big time players).

The ships was very clean and in great repair. We saw no areas that looked as if they were worn or overused. Even the windows were fairly clean, considering the amount of salt spray

We chose the anytime dining plan, and we never had to wait for a table, We ate in groups, a table for 2, a table for 4. The longest wait we heard about was 15 - 20 minutes for people who wanted a table for 2. The portions were good size, we never left the table feeling hungry or stuffed. I didn't hear any complaints about the quality of food and the variety was terrific. The buffets and the sit down dining were equal in quality -- but, of course, differ in presentation.
