Caribbean princess is a lovely ship. Traveling with my husband/daughter/her husband and our two grandsons was just joyful. The ship was comfortable--if available, book a balcony room. The outside room with a window had a very small shower and it was difficult to manuver. While my cruise was special because I was with my grandsons, I had a difficult time getting around. I need a wheel chair to get from one deck to another. I can walk but distance is a problem. The cabin deck hallways are very narrow. If the laundry carts are out, it's impossible to pass. Most of the time you have to walk single file.
And now the most difficult part of the trip! Do not book your flight with Princess. Book on your own. Leave plenty of time to fly in for a 4 o'clock departure. Or go the night before. Travel plans made by Princess were horrid. We left New York and had a lay over in Cinncinatti, Ohio, then flew to Florida. That flight wasn't so bad. The day we left the ship, we had to make a 12:30 flight from Fort Lauderdale. A trip to New York that should have taken 3 hours took 9. We had a stop in Atlanta, Greensboro (walking to a tarmac and climbing a ladder to a 50 passenger plane) then on to Kennedy. Keep in mind that wherever I had to go a wheelchair was required, which made things extremely difficult, when a direct flight would have been easier. Princess did not take into consideration my disability. When I found my own flight on line I called the Princess office and asked that my tickets be changed. I was even willing to pay up to five hundred dollars for the change. The front office could care less. They were rude and wouldn't even listen to the problem we would have traveling with limited mobility. I have cruised many times before and this line was the only one who was so uncaring and unwilling to help.
For the most part it was the traveling that ruined the trip for us. The staff and food and entertainment on the Caribbean Princess ship was fine. We would have enjoyed it more had the front office been more accomendating. Would I reccomend this ship? Yes. But make your own flight reservations.
