Godmother Rosie O'Donnell Names NCL's Newest Ship the Norwegian Pearl

By , About.com Guide

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) celebrated the naming of its newest cruise ship the Norwegian Pearl in Miami on December 16. Television personality Rosie O'Donnell had the honor of being the Norwegian Pearl's godmother, and she performed her responsibilities well. Over 2400 guests, comprised mostly of NCL executives, Star Cruises executives, travel agents, and VIPs welcomed the cruise ship. The naming of the Norwegian Pearl kicks off a year-long birthday party for NCL as the cruise line celebrates its 40th anniversary of cruising.

The Norwegian Pearl carries 2394 passengers and is almost identical to the Norwegian Jewel, except for a few interesting additions such as the 4-lane, 10-pin bowling alley - the first on a cruise ship. Other new features on the Pearl are (1) two new mega-luxury suites on deck 15, (2) a revamped Garden Cafe, (3) upgraded sun chairs and sun beds on the deck, and (4) more connecting staterooms.

Join me at the naming of this beautiful new cruise ship.
