After walking around Gamla Stan and touring the sites on Deer Island (Djurgarden), our Stockholm guide Susanne Aberg decided it was time for lunch. She took us to Stockholm's produce market, Ostermalms Saluhall in Nybrogatan, for a delicious lunch at Lisa Elmquist, which opened in 1926. This seafood restaurant is owned by one of Stockholm's largest fish distributors, and the menu changes daily with the catch. My mother loved the pickled herring, while I had some of the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. We felt like we got a real "taste of Sweden" in a delightful atmosphere.

Ostermalms Saluhall has been a food market since 1888, and with its soaring roof and wonderful aromas is a great place for exploring for those of us who love to look at (and taste) good food.
