Glasgow, Scotland - Scottish City on the Clyde River

Glasgow Is Easily Accessible When Your Cruise Ship Docks in Greenock, Scotland

By , About.com Guide

Glasgow is the third largest city in Britain (after London and Birmingham). It also is the third most popular city in Britain for tourists (after London and Edinburgh). Once best known as a major shipbuilding and heavy industrialized city, Glasgow has diversified its business base over the past few decades while still maintaining its role as a tourist center.

Cruise ships dock at Greenock on the Clyde River, and passengers can choose from a variety of shore excursions to Glasgow, Edinburgh (a 2-hour drive from Greenock), Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond, or elsewhere in the scenic Scottish countryside.

For those who like to explore on their own, many cruise ships like the Jewel of the Seas provide an inexpensive shuttle into Glasgow. Walking the downtown area of Glasgow is interesting, and taking the hop-on, hop-off (HOHO) bus makes exploring easier. These photos were taken from the HOHO bus, which gave us an opportunity to see many of the "must-see" sights all over the city of Glasgow.
