The Edmonston-Alston House still contains many Alston family heirlooms and furniture dating back to the 19th century. The home has lovely views of the harbor from its porches. General Beauregard watched the 1861 shelling of Fort Sumter from one of the porches on the upper level. The house and garden are lovely and open to the public (for a fee).
