Our cruise was a big disappointment. My husband and I enjoy fine dining, relaxing, and dancing. The night club had a wonderful band, however every night was like being at a wedding reception. Little kids everywhere! We are through raising children and did not appreciate having to bump into them on the dance floor, watching that we didn't tramp on them. The other night club was an alternative lifestyle that we do not partake of - I commend the ship having "friends of Dorthy" but that was not for us.
The specialty dining was a shock. I knew there was a cover charge since we have been on NCL three other times. However, when the wait staff was telling us about a charge I "yessed them" not understanding they were telling us there was an additional charge for "special" items in the "specialty restaurant". What a shocker when receiving our bill.
We were also surprised at the cost of drinks. Buying water also included an 18% gratuity.
The biggest dissapointment was dealing with little kids. The busiest floor with the photo shop, shopping stores, restaurants, bars, these kids were in a group (provided by the ship kids club) marching through singing at the top of their lungs at the busiest hours!
Our stop at Surma, Dominican Republic was a bust - the beach was lousy. Even the captain said over the speaker system "hope you had a nice day even though there is little to do there" Why add it to the itinerary?
