A ride to the top of the dormant Haleakala Volcano on the Hawaiian island of Maui is a great way to spend a day in port when your cruise ship is in Lahaina or Kahului. As you ride from sea level to the 10,000+ foot summit, you pass through several diverse climates and see a huge variety of flora, from tropical to arctic tundra.
