Cadiz is located on the Atlantic Ocean in southern Spain near the Rock of Gibraltar. The old city is small and walkable, and the twin-towered Cathedral was just a short distance from our ship. Cadiz also had some beautiful beaches that were clean and relatively empty in late May. Two of our dinner companions really enjoyed their day in Cadiz just exploring the old city and walking the pristine beaches.
Most passengers on the Crystal Symphony chose to go to Seville, a two-hour ride from Cadiz, for full-day tours. It was a very tough decision, and although Seville was a long ride from Cadiz, everyone we spoke with raved about the beauty of Seville and the ride through the Spanish countryside. We all loved the blooming purple jackaranda trees and decided that May must be the most beautiful time to visit. Although I am sure that we would have loved Seville, my mother and I both love horses, so we decided to take an excursion to nearby Jerez to see the famous Royal School Equestrian Show, which ended up as an excellent choice.
