Tower of London Tour - London Premier Attractions - Tower of London
Cruise Pictures from the Tower of London

By , About.com Guide

London is a wonderful city to visit, and the Tower of London is well worth at least a half day or longer. The 18 acres that make up the Tower of London site sit directly on the Thames River near the Tower Bridge. Much of the history surrounding the Tower of London is very gruesome, with many beheadings and political imprisonments. Today, the Beefeater (Yeoman Warder) guards at the Tower of London provide a witty historical tour, and the museum of medieval artifacts is quite impressive. And then there are those magnificent Crown Jewels, which are also kept at the Tower of London.

London's excellent airport hub and transportation system make it a perfect pre- or post-cruise extension for cruises from Dover, Harwich, or Southampton. Some cruise ships also include a day in London on cruises of the British Isles or to northern Europe. Small ships can even sail right up the Thames and dock in the center of London. Let's take a tour of the Tower of London.
