We sailed from Port Canaveral on the Disney Wonder Sunday January 26-30, 2003. We did not enjoy this cruise as much as we did Royal Caribbean. We cruised on RC last August on the Sovereign of the Seas and had a wonderful time.
The kids ages 6 and 12 had an ok time on the ship, however we found the staff of the kids programs to be rude and the 3-7 age group was more of a babysitting service more than anything. My 12 year old only went to the Oceaneer lab 2 times and he had NO interaction from the staff there at all. Too bad. We were really hoping we would have a great time and the kids would meet new friends, however that wasn't the case.
We did enjoy the excursions and had fun at night. We were freezing cold in Freeport, so that day was pretty miserable. We had a good time on the private island Castaway Cay, but not as much fun as we did on the Royal Carribean Coco Cay. There wasn't as much to do on the island of Castaway as there was to do with Royal Caribbean!
The food on Disney was fine, we thought it comparable to the food on RC. We will not be cruising Disney again, we felt like we paid twice as much for the cruise than we would have paid for any other line and the service was slightly less than we expected. The rooms were bigger however and we liked the toilet being in a separate room from the sinks and bath tub. Overall we would rate the line a 5 on a scale of 1-10.
