Cunard Line Lifestyle:
Cunard is all about tradition, and passengers on Cunard enjoy classic ocean liners with formal service and many amenities. Cunard is the only major cruise line that still maintains different "classes" on its ships. Passengers in the higher priced cabins and suites have separate restaurants than the rest of the passengers. The ships are designed as floating resorts to transport passengers in style across the Atlantic; therefore, there are plenty of activities and special features onboard.
Cunard Cruise Ships:
Cunard's ocean liners are probably three of the best known names in passenger cruise travel--the Queen Elizabeth (QE), Queen Mary 2 (QM2), and the Queen Victoria (QV). These three ships were built to sail northern-route, transatlantic cruises between Southampton and New York and around the world cruises. Today, the QM2 routinely sails on 6-night cruises across the Atlantic and the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria sail the world on long voyages.
Cunard Passenger Profile:
Cunard's brand name and tradition attracts a wide variety of passengers of all ages. You will find first-time cruisers and those who have sailed many times. Most of the passengers are American or British, but many Europeans also cruise on the QE, QM2 and Queen Victoria. Ships are well suited for singles or couples. People who enjoy elegant surroundings and style will enjoy Cunard's ships. Those looking for a casual, laid-back atmosphere will not.
Cunard Cabins:
All three ships have a wide array of cabin grades and layouts, with many different categories. The cabins have plenty of storage and all the amenities you would expect from a deluxe or premium cruise ship. Because of the diversity of the cabins, you will need to study the brochure well before selecting your cabin. The class of cabin will determine where you dine.
Cunard Cuisine and Dining:
As discussed above, passengers are assigned to a dining room based on the cabin category. As you might expect, the cuisine and service varies significantly from the highest Grill class to the standard class. However, all of the dining rooms serve good food, and most passengers who have sailed on other premium lines will find the cuisine and service meets their expectations.
Cunard Onboard Activities and Entertainment:
The onboard activities and entertainment are identical for all classes on the Cunard ships. The ships have both large production and smaller cabaret shows. The ships have numerous lounges and bars, a casino, and disco. Ballroom dancing is a very popular activity, and the ships have gentlemen hosts ready to dance with the single women travelers. Since many of the cruises have many (or all) sea days, enrichment lectures and educational classes are varied and of excellent quality.
Cunard Common Areas:
Cunard has tried to maintain its traditional, distinctive character and ambiance in the three ships. However, the cruise line has also recognized that today's lifestyle is different than it was 50 years ago. Most of the decor is subtle and of British style. The ships have many historical features and exhibits from the golden days of ocean voyages.
Cunard Spa, Gym, and Fitness:
The ships have excellent spas and also have hair salons. The gyms have classes, the latest workout equipment, and free weights. There are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a golf putting green and driving net, and all sorts of deck games available.
