The dining room featured cook-to-order breakfast items such as pancakes or egg items. I loved a quiche-type dish that included eggs, spinach, cream cheese, smoked salmon, and capers. It went along great with a bagel!
The Spirit of Yorktown had light lunches including soup and sandwiches in the observation lounge, or a sit-down lunch in the dining room. The lunch usually featured two main course choices, or you could always get a hamburger or hot dog.
Dinner was always excellent, with several courses and yummy desserts. Steak or chicken was always available. Wine costs extra, but bottles can be carried over from night to night.
Although we thought the food was very good, the service from the all-American service crew is much like you would find in any casual restaurant in the U.S. Those who enjoy the formal, precise service of the large cruise ships might be disappointed, but we thought it was perfect for the casual, family atmosphere on the ship. We felt like we were sailing on our own ship, with an extended family -- and the kids always had to clean up, cook, and serve!
