The SeaDream I is a warm weather ship, and the pool is a central gathering place for daytime activities. Passengers can be found sitting in the sun and the shade or paddling in the pool most of the day. There is also a whirlpool and shower. The pool bar serves icy drinks and provides iced cloths to cool off your face. Just a few steps down from the pool is the SeaDream I swimming platform and marina. When water conditions are calm and the ship is anchored in a quiet harbor, the staff break out the "sea toys"--wave runners, sailboat, sea kayaks, snorkeling gear, Zodiacs, water skis, and banana boat. Everyone takes turns riding and just generally having a great time.
The SeaDream I has other daytime activities for its passengers. The ship carries mountain bikes, which are available for use ashore. The SeaDream I also has Segway Human Transporters that can be rented for a nominal fee whenever the ship is docked. These futuristic vehicles are easy to ride, and are great fun to try. The Segways glide soundlessly across the pier, and James the activity director set up a slalom course with plastic cones for us to steer around. It was a very interesting way to spend a sunny afternoon.
