One of the most popular places for passengers to gather was on the enclosed bridge, which was almost always open for guests. It was great fun to watch the electronic equipment while scanning the horizon for whales.
The Observation Lounge on the top deck was another popular indoor place for socializing, playing cards, and reading one of the books from the well-stocked library. Unfortunately, sometimes this lounge was filled with smoke. It was the one place on the ship where smoke was noticeable much of the time to non-smokers like us. Passengers are allowed to smoke in all the lounges and restaurants, but the smoking areas are clearly marked and we didn't notice smoke during the meals.
The Hanseatic also has an outdoor pool and indoor hot tub, both of which were used frequently. The gym equipment, sauna, and massages in the spa were also popular. Most of us were content in the evenings to eat a leisurely dinner and recap the day with our new cruise friends.
