Hanseatic Cabin on the Explorer Deck

Our cabin #213 on the Hapag-Lloyd Hanseatic was spacious and had plenty of storage space.

The Hanseatic has 92 warmly-furnished, spacious cabins accommodating 184 passengers. None of the cabins have balconies, but all are outside with either large windows or portholes. On this small expedition ship, we didn't think any of the cabins were undesirable. Every area on the ship was easily accessible via two stairways or an elevator. The 8 cabins and 4 suites on the Bridge Deck have butler service. Our cabin on the Explorer Deck had a large picture window and a small sitting area. All cabins have a small refrigerator re-stocked daily with soft drinks and water and a new flat screen television complete with a high-tech infotainment system.

The television infotainment consisted of channels for a bridge camera, nature shows and on-demand movies (free) in English and German, and an email system. Being able to send and receive emails in your cabin on the ship for free is a great idea; however, this system was very slow and the German keyboard awkward to use. You cannot access your personal email or the Internet anywhere on the ship.

Our cabin had plenty of storage space including four closets and two locked drawers that served as safes. The cabin also had hooks for hanging up our red winter parkas loaned to us for the duration of the cruise. The bathroom had two bathrobes, two toiletry cabinets, a large tub with shower and good water pressure. We were very satisfied with the cabin and our cabin service.
