One must be very careful when picking a cruise, so I did all the necessary research and chose Celebrity because of all the rave reviews it was receiving on-line. I went on a 6-day cruise over Christmas which turned out to be a disaster. The top things off the reply from Celebrity have to singularly be the worst example of customer service I have ever witnessed. The lasting impression I got is that once you have finished the cruise Celebrity "have finished with you".

Let me begin. We took off on schedule from Ft. Lauderdale travelling to Ocho Rios. The cabins were roomy but I did notice some wear and tear on the ship. The Century is basically beginning to show its age. Dinner that night was nothing special. I have been reading about the excellent cuisine on Celebrity ships, but I'm convinced that when I went with Holland America three years ago it was far superior. When having dinner one notices that the ship is unstable and quite rocky. Why cruise ships go to Ocho Rios I don't know. The place is downright dangerous with the locals continuously badgering you trying to sell their goods. Be very careful in Jamaica as I felt threathened there. When I didn't want to enter certain shops I kept getting "Are you afraid of me, man!". I will never go back there.

Day three was in Grand Cayman. This is a peaceful place with delightful beaches. My recommendation is to get a scooter and discover the place for yourself. It gives you much more freedom than taking a bus tour. The Century ship was late in docking and docked to far out so we missed our excursions to Stingray city.

Then we found out that a propeller on the ship broke and that we would have to go back to Ft. Lauderdale straight away. We missed Cozumel and arrived at 10pm the night before we were due to dock. Celebrity gave us 50 dollars room credit for all our troubles. I called customer service and was amazed to find out that even though they messed everything up it's apparently in our contract that we have no leg to stand on. The next time I'm buying travel insurance to compensate for events like this.
