Crete - Hiking the Samaria Gorge - Silversea Silver Shadow Shore Excursion
Crete is the largest and most diverse island of Greece. We were only in Crete for a day, which was not nearly enough time to explore even a small part of the island. Therefore, my friend Julie and I opted to take a wonderful shore excursion that involved travel to the southwest coast via bus, taking a ferry along the coastline to a small village, and then hiking the famous Samaria Gorge. Even those who didn't want to hike would love the ferry ride and exploring the villages along the coast.

Nafplio, Greece
Nafplio is on the Greek mainland and the city was such an important port at one time that it is protected by three marvelous fortresses. We wandered the streets of the town and loved the picturesque flower-filled streets and friendly people. We chose NOT to hike up to the Palamidi Fortress that overlooks Nafplio, but some on our cruise did.
