Definition: A cabin upgrade on a cruise ship is when a passenger is moved from a lower-priced cabin to a higher-priced one. A cabin upgrade is not necessarily from one type cabin to another, like from an inside cabin to an outside or balcony cabin. For example, if a passenger is moved from a deck 4 inside cabin to a deck 5 inside cabin, it is considered an upgrade, as if moving from a deck 4 cabin in the aft or front of the ship to a deck 4 cabin midship.
Also Known As: stateroom upgrade
On our last cruise, we received a cabin upgrade from a deck 6 balcony cabin to a deck 8 balcony cabin.
