Costa was not our choice; we had booked on Carnival but Carnival changed the itinerary from Eastern to the Western Caribbean and Costa was the only cruise line that met the dates that we had planned our vacation for. The first problem was that the air conditioning didn't work in our room the first night. We told the cabin steward about 10 pm that the air wasn't working. We were told that her supervisor would contact us in ten minutes. A half hour later and no one had come. We asked her for a fan and was told no, we don't have fans. She then told us that maybe they would fix it tomorrow. We said no, that's unacceptable.
We went to customer service where there were at least four customer service people standing there. We explained the situation to them and were told that it was being worked on. We asked how long would this take, of course no answer. My wife asked five times to speak to a supervisor and we didn't receive a response. We went back to our room and of course the air conditioning still wasn't working. My wife ended up pulling her mattress out in the hallway since it was cooler out there than in the room. We had asked for another room until the air conditioning was fixed and were told that no room was available. I went back up to customer service and talked to a supervisor, he said he would try to get us a fan. He finally did but still it would just be moving hot air around. I went back up to customer service and told him that my wife an daughter had put their mattresses out in the hallway and asked again if they could get us a room. He finally relented and "found" another room for the night. We went down to the room and found it only had beds for two people since the steward was off duty and they couldn't pull the other bed down. This argument went on for a good hour before they got us a room for my wife and daughter. There was a lot more arguing going on and every time we went to customer service we explained our problem and they would speak Italian to each other right in front of us.
Food-Ugh. Guess it's slanted toward Europeans because the service was slow, the food was very bland and we really didn't enjoy it. We had a lot of ice cream from the machines! The buffet line was open for very short time frames, when it was closed you could get pizza (not too good) and there wasn't food 24 hrs. We would never book on Costa Cruise lines again. A big thumbs down!
