My wife and I were 1st time cruisers and did not really know what to expect. We heard many good things and some negativity. Overall we had a wonderful experience. The staff was excellent, courteous, friendly, and helpful always. The quality and quantity of the food was on a par with the best restaurants I have eaten in, and I have experienced some top rated eating establishments from coast to coast.

The evening shows were spectacular, high energy, and extremely professional. We enjoyed the photo opportunities and declined when we wished, no big deal. No pushiness. I was uncomfortable with the impoverished conditions in Puerto Viarta and Mazatlan and the pushiness of vendors and beggars. We liked Cabo San Lucas the best.

I thought the ship, The Pride, was well maintained considering how many people were on board,(a full ship). The only down side the whole cruise was the teenagers on board were allowed to run wild by overly permissive parents. I guess the theory is don't bother us until time to leave. Not Carnival's fault, but a product of our times and culture.

We thought prices onboard were fair, drinks were not watered down as some have reported, and we did not experience any pushy sales people as some have previously reported. Art auctions were pushed but we had no interest so we weren't bothered. Activities were well attended and fun but again you could participate or not. The general overall belief is that one can get as much or as little out of a cruise as you wish. The previous negative critiques that I have read had me a little concerned but turned out to be pure bunk or BS take your pick!

I thought food was excellent and well prepared and and plentiful, quality and variety was staggering, staff at all times were helpful, courteous, and friendly. I enjoyed asking staff members about their homelands and all were forthcoming and chatty.

Our stateroom (a suite) was comfortable and well maintained by the two cabin attendants. Dining staff anticipated our needs and were quick to comply. The dancing and singing by the staff at the end of each evening meal was a refreshing time as they got to relax and let their hair down a little.

Overall a pleasant time and I would recommend Carnival and the Pride to anyone interested in cruising at a fair price.
