My wife and I were extremely happy with this cruise. I have sailed previously on the Inspiration out of Tampa, and my basis for this review was that cruise. First, at the Port of Canaveral, boarding and security where well organized. I thought it would take hours to board when I saw the line outside and after getting through security. I was wrong, it went rapidly. Kudos for those persons processing everybody! When boarding the Inspiration in Tampa it took a while to process us in, and everything felt like it was unorganized.
Once aboard the Elation, I went straight to my cabin to unload some of our carry-on luggage, needless to say I did not read the note on the fire doors, saying the room will not be ready till later. However, the Steward and room techs were very nice and in a polite manner explained the situation to me. I then proceeded to the Lido deck to eat lunch. Compared to the Inspiration, this did not happen. Being how I am a retired fire fighter, I still think of safety as a main concern, and during the boat drill on the Elation, All the cruise personnel assisting in the drill made me feel very relaxed and comfortable compared to the boat drill on the Inspiration.
During the Cruise, I would like to express how and my wife felt with all the crew members. The activities section, Kathy, (last cruise), Paul, Brandon and Roseline(first cruise). Really made my wife and myself at home. Even though they had to keep reminding me I was on vacation. I wish I had a people like them work for me. Major kudos to them.
Only thing I can say that was negative was the food on the Elation. Many times, I had eaten at Tiffany's and by the time my wife and I sat down to eat, the food was cold. Not lukewarm but cold. The Pizza was okay and so where the sandwiches. My wife and I did not eat at the dining room because we were assigned late sitting and could not change it. Being diabetic, we are on a schedule to eat so we could control our blood sugar. On the Inspiration, we ate at the same restaurant as Tiffany's on the Elation and the food was fabulous.
Would I take another cruise with Carnival? Yes, my wife and I are now saving money for our next cruise. We would like to experience a 10-day cruise to the Southern Caribbean on one of the newer "Fun Ships" like the Carnival Liberty.
To all the employees of Carnival -- Keep up the Great Work!
