We recently traveled on the Carnival Destiny. We could not have chosen a worse time to have been on a cruise. We had a group of 701 people aboard that were the rudest people that I have ever encountered. Although this was not the fault of the cruise ship, it still was not pleasant.
Most of the staff on the Carnival Destiny ship didn't seem to like there jobs, excluding the wonderful steward that we had take care of our room. We had an unpleasant staff for the midnight buffet the only night that we went to it and decided not to go again. The food could have been a little easier to find and the quality could have been better. We only went to the dining room twice to eat, the first time was for dinner and the second time was for breakfast. Both times we had unfriendly services. There were 6 of us on the cruise and not one of us felt we should be donating gratitues to the dining room staff.
We ported on the Carnival Destiny at St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, and Aruba. We had a wonderful time at 3 of the ports but Dominica was not impressive. If in Dominica you need to do an excursion. That was not a choice for us as the 701 people we were trying to avoid were doing the excusions and we did not want to spend our day with them.
My daughter and I are planning a cruise in the fall and I will be checking out other cruise lines as this is her first cruise and I want it to be a good experience. I would not travel on the Destiny again, nor would the other 2 couples with us.
