Dominica - Nature Island of the Eastern Caribbean

From Linda Garrison, About.com

Dominica is the greenest and most mountainous island in the eastern Caribbean. Cruise ships dock in the capital city of Rouseau for a day on the island. Dominica does not have the memorable beaches, casinos, golf courses, world-class resorts, or great shopping found on other Caribbean islands. Most activities and shore excursions for cruise ship passengers are outdoor oriented. With a day in Dominica, you can go snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, or tubing down a river. Dominica is a beautiful volcanic island, and its natural sights such as rain forests, waterfalls, towering peaks, picturesque rivers, and volcanic activity are enough to make this a great port of call for cruise ships.
