These same lagoons are used for the dolphin interactions, which have three price levels. The first is the dolphin observer, who can enter the lagoon area and make photos, but not get into the water or very close to the dolphins. The second is the most popular and is called the dolphin encounter. Participants get into the water, pet the dolphins, learn about their anatomy, and have a pectoral hand shake and kiss. The third is the dolphin swimmer. With this choice you do everything the dolphin encounters do, but also be pulled across the pool by the dolphin.
If you are doing the encounter or the swim, you aren't allowed to carry your own camera, so you are at the mercy of the Dolphinaris staff to get photos. However, they take dozens of each participant, so you are bound to get some good ones.
These photos provide a good overview of Dolphinaris of Cozumel and also a look at some photos of me swimming with the dolphins.
