The summit of Table Mountain provides the ultimate view of Cape Town, its beaches, and Robben Island.
A trip to the top of Table Mountain is a must-do in Cape Town, but only if the summit is not covered with the "tablecloth", a bank of clouds that frequently sits on the top of Table Mountain.
A revolving cable car takes visitors to the top of the Table Mountain plateau. The lines can get long at both the ticket booth and the cable car, so be sure to carry water and bring a hat and sunglasses. The view at the summit makes the wait worth it, and since the plateau is relatively flat, walking around is not too difficult. There's also a shop and snack bar near the upper cable car station.
