While on the Arabella cruise of the British Virgin Islands, the sailing ship stopped for a few hours at Great Harbor at Jost Van Dyke for us to clear customs into the BVI. Jost Van Dyke has long been a favorite of sailors or those on small ships. The island has quiet, beautiful beaches, good anchorage, and just enough bars on the beach to provide some nightlife and fun.
While anchored in Great Harbor, we went ashore from the Arabella in the dinghy and did a little exploring. It was morning on Jost Van Dyke, so famous Foxy's Bar was quiet. These photos provide a look at one of the quieter islands of the Caribbean since Jost Van Dyke does not have the development or cruise ship piers other islands have.
I visited Jost Van Dyke for the first time almost 20 years ago with Windjammer Barefoot Cruises and returned to White Bay in 2004 on the small luxury ship the SeaDream Yacht Club SeaDream I. I am happy to say that the island hasn't changed much in 20 years!
