Tutshi River Canyon Suspension Bridge Is Near White Pass Railway in Fraser, BC

By

The most popular cruise shore excursion from Skagway, Alaska is a 2-hour ride on the White Pass Railway from Skagway to Fraser, British Columbia. This scenic railway rises 3,000 feet to the White Pass Summit. Some shore excursions return via the train back to Skagway, but many travelers opt to take a bus back down the Yukon Highway.

When on a cruise on the Regent Seven Seas' Seven Seas Mariner, our bus return from the White Pass Railway excursion included a 45-minute stopover at the beautiful Yukon Suspension Bridge. This narrow, swinging bridge crosses the Tutshi River Canyon and is located on the South Klondike Highway, just a few miles north of the White Pass Railway train station. The Yukon Suspension Bridge is relatively new, and we felt quite safe when crossing the raging whitewater river 57-feet below. The views, sounds of the river, and historical exhibits are definitely worth adding the Yukon Suspension Bridge onto your train or bus excursion from Skagway.
