Juneau, Alaska - Southeast Alaska Inside Passage Cruise

From Linda Garrison, About.com

Juneau is the only state capital in the USA that is inaccessible by car. The city of about 30,000 residents is perched on the southeast coast of Alaska on the Inside Passage, and you need a ship or a plane to get to Juneau. Since the mountains come down almost to the sea, the city hugs the coastline for several miles, and most residents are not far from the sea. Juneau offers many excursion opportunities for Alaska cruises, and its airport makes the city a good one for cruise ship embarkation or disembarkation.

With several cruise ships visiting the city each day during the busy summer cruise season, the small town seems to burst at the seams, with tourists roaming from shop to shop, buying all sorts of souvenirs and Alaskan crafts.

We stayed overnight in Juneau before embarking on our Cruise West Spirit of Yorktown cruise of Alaska's Inside Passage. These photos capture a few of the things to see and do in Juneau.
