While on a Silver Wind Africa cruise, I visited the northwest islands of Nosy Be and Nosy Komba, Madagascar.
My one goal in Madagascar was to see its most famous endemic species, the lemur. The Nosy Komba jungle was supposedly filled with lemurs, so we were off in a small boat to the nearby island. When we landed in the village, we quickly passed by vendors selling their handicrafts and linens and marched along the trail into the hot, steamy jungle. Nothing (not even shopping) could interfere with the lemur mission.
I'm happy to say that we saw dozens of lemurs, along with all sorts of other wildlife. And, we even took time for shopping.
