Travelers planning a trip to Egypt are often disappointed that you cannot cruise between Cairo and Luxor on the Nile River. Security concerns have kept this section closed to tourist boats for many years. However, the flight between Cairo and Luxor is only a little over an hour, and the Luxor airport is very clean and modern. There are also trains that make the 400-mile trek between Cairo and Luxor.
