Like all the Guides at About, I am a real person. Due to the volume of spam email I get, it's very important that you be very specific in the subject line of your message to me -- otherwise, I might inadvertently delete it! It may take a few days for me to get back to you, but I do read and answer all email. For additional assistance or to share your comments and suggestions, email me at: cruises.guide@about.com

F.A.Q.

  1. Q. How do I start planning a cruise?
    A. Before you contact a travel agent or book a cruise on line, there are (at least) ten questions you must be prepared to answer. Sit down with your traveling companions and answer these questions, and you'll look more like an experienced cruiser than a first timer!
  2. Q. How do I find a good travel agent?
    A. The Internet has provided all of us travelers with lots of good information to help us plan our cruise. However, often times a travel agent can add value to your cruise planning process.

  3. Q. Where can I get information on specific cruises?
    A. All of the major cruise lines have information on their Web sites about future cruise itineraries and ports of call. After you have looked over the About Cruises site, you might want to check out the Cruise Lines' directory.
  4. Q. What is the best cruise destination?
    A. Cruise ships sail to all seven continents and to hundreds of ports of call. Read more about cruise destinations.
  5. Q. How do a find a job in the cruise industry?
    A. I am neither a travel agent nor a cruise line employee, so I cannot help you find a job on a cruise line. I do have a library of links to cruise lines' pages on cruise ship employment.
  6. Q. Where can I find more information on planning a cruise?
    A. The About.com cruises site has thousands of pages of information and photos about cruise travel. This list of cruise planning articles will help you learn more about the basics of cruising.
