U.S. Virgin Islands - St. Croix - Salt River Bay and Landing
Near Judith's Fancy (previous photo) you will find the Salt River Bay and Landing. Christopher Columbus sailed into and anchored in Salt River Bay in 1493. He and his crew had a skirmish here with some Arawak Indians which was the first bloody battle between Europeans and West Indians. The peninsula on the eastern side of the bay is named Cabo de las Flechas in memory of the event - Cape of the Arrows.
