Istanbul - Hagia Sophia and Basilica Cistern

The Hagia Sophia was built in 532 AD and is one of the most amazing architectural sites ever constructed. The Basilica Cistern once served as an underground reservoir for the city of Istanbul. Its huge columns holding up the ceiling and its unusual carvings make this a fascinating place to visit. Click on each photo to enlarge.
