Nagasaki, Japan - Cruise Ship Port of Call

The Nagasaki Peace Park (Heiwa Koen) was built at the epicenter of the August 9, 1945 atomic blast that obliterated over 2.5 square miles, killed 75,000 people, and injured 75,000 more. The 30-foot Peace Statue in Nagasaki Peace Park dominates the park. The man's left hand reaches out to the world to recall the devastation of the bombing and to symbolize world peace, and the man's right hand reaches skyward from whence the atomic bomb came.
