Kobe, Japan - Cruise Ship Port of Call

We arrived at our disembarkation point, Kobe, in the early morning after cruising up the Inland Sea from Shimonoseki. The Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995 was devastating to the city, but today Kobe is an important seaport for Japan. It is also near to Osaka, which has a major international airport. Many in our group transferred to Osaka for their flights home. Others on the Silver Shadow were taking a Silversea land tour to Kyoto and Tokyo. Mother and I took a taxi to the Osaka domestic airport for our short flight to Tokyo. We would have liked to take the bullet train, but decided not to when we found that you can't take much luggage onboard.
